Ultrasound sonography
The use of ultrasound waves which cannot be heard enable us to obtain an image of the soft parts of the body without causing damage through ionising radiation. As a result, the procedure can be used freely during pregnancy.
Ultrasound examinations are suitable for diagnosis of stomach and intestinal illnesses as well as the female breast. In special cases, joints or other areas of the body are also examined using ultrasound.
Doppler sonography has become a routine method in diagnosing diseases of the blood vessels. This procedure enables us to examine:
- the elimination of deep vein thrombosis
- the direction of blood flow
- the constriction of blood vessels: this is important, for example in detecting and eliminating a stricture (stenosis) of the peripheral arteries.
- modifications to blood vessel walls, e.g. in the form of calcification
